All about mastectomies

mastectomy
Surprisingly mastectomies don't really hurt. It's a lot of fat and once they cut through the skin the nerves are so damaged that your chest is MOSTLY numb due to nerve damage. This comes in handy when they cook you with radiation. Now, some people can get reconstruction right away so that you wake up with new boobs, but less cancer filled... in my case, since I don't have breast cancer, I have to wait 2 years before I can start thinking about getting a replacement.

Sorry if you're squeamish, but its reality. Cancer isn't a pretty thing. And people going through it want to know what to expect. I make it look good! haha.

Of course having a mastectomy provides you with the BEST in fashion. Tank tops and sun dresses are a thing of the past. Now you get to wear stunning MUMU's in varying shades of pink, and robes! Enjoy... and remember Coco Channel made pant suits a *thing*.

Lastly, when thinking about reconstruction... replacing your defective boob with a kitten is always a bright alternative. Pros: Fuzzy, cute and warm Cons: Claws, teeth and tickly whiskers.

In the end. It's not that painful to have a mastectomy. It's emotionally painful more than anything. You'll need a lot of support. Not looking at your new topography and bawling your eyes out is difficult. It passes. You get used to the new you and you'll learn to love yourself- the same way you start to love yourself despite your huge ass and dimply thighs. It takes time.
